Become a Certified Security Officer Trained By Mantis Strategic Defense LLC®
Mantis Strategic Defense is To work as a fully certified armed or unarmed security professional in Oregon, DPSST requires completion of the following:
DPSST Unarmed Security Certification (14 Hours)
State-mandated 14-hour unarmed security course
Required before enrolling in armed security training
Delivered over 2 days
Classroom-based instruction covering legal authority, professionalism, ethics, and safety
DPSST Armed Security Certification (24 Hours)
State-mandated 24-hour armed security course
Includes classroom instruction and 8-hour live-fire range training
Covers firearm safety, handgun fundamentals, and DPSST qualification standards
Delivered over 3 days
📍 Classes are held weekly / monthly in Medford, Oregon, beginning at 8:30 a.m.
DPSST Security Recertification & Refresher Training
We provide ongoing security recertification in Ashland to Medford in Jackson County to keep professionals compliant with DPSST requirements.
Unarmed Security Refresher (4 Hours)
Required every 2 years – $75Armed Security Refresher (4 Hours)
Required annually – $150 (includes range fee)
✔️ Refreshers may be completed up to 180 days prior to certification expiration.
Contract & Group DPSST Security Training
Security companies and organizations may contract with Mantis Strategic Defense LLC® for:
Group DPSST training
Recurring certification programs
In-house armed and unarmed security instruction
Independent professionals are also welcome to enroll in scheduled courses or refresher training.

ACKNOWLEDGMENT BAN FOR SIG SAUER P320 USERS
IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING THE SIG SAUER P320 PISTOL AND ALL ITS VARIANTS
The Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST), under the direction of Director Phil Castle, has made the decision to prohibit the use and carry of the Sig Sauer P320 and its variants on the Oregon Public Safety Academy campus and during any DPSST-provided training, citing documented concerns of unintentional discharges resulting in injuries to both owners and bystanders.
In alignment with this position and in the interest of safety, Mantis Strategic Defense LLC® advising the BAN against the use of the Sig Sauer P320 platform during any class, training event, or range activity. Use of this weapon system is strongly discouraged from personal or duty-issue as an officers firearm.
If you choose to use an Sig Sauer P320 or any of its variants you do so with full knowledge of the risks and documented incidents involving this weapon platform. Chose wisely!
