Meet the Owners and Lead Coaches

We chose the Pray Mantis due to being native in the Pacific Northwest. Blending in the Pacific Northwest and going about its life killing to eat and for defense. Show casing a choice and displaying their “WHY.” To attack or to remain still and not attack; a symbolism of Persistence and Courage to remain calm against adversity and being affective in its timing of use self-defense and be affective when doing so.

About Us

Michael Rexius (Co-Owner)

I grew up here in Medford Oregon, I’ve dedicated myself to teaching people, all ages, proper fundamentals, skills and safe handling of firearms. In high school, I had the dream to play college football for the University of Oregon but unfortunately my dream slowly diminished as I had countless sport injuries 3 years in a row. My senior season of football was nonexistent due to covid restrictions and any chances of making it onto a collage football team was slim. Therefore, I had to rise above the adversity and find a new passion in life, that’s when I inquired about the United States Air Force. Among the jobs in the USAF I found SERE (Survival, Evasion, Resistance, Escape). It’s a Special Operations Support Specialist job that would’ve allowed me to spend time surviving in the woods, urban and combat settings along with other skills and techniques of surviving in elements which I always enjoyed being I was an outdoor kid growing up. One of the biggest benefits of this job, it would have given me the opportunity to teach other members in the military to survive in dangerous situations. Researching and educating myself with SERE, I found they had their special training pipeline (training and development with mental and physical stress) you go through to meet their training standards to pass, so I got to work training. I made sure I was studying for the topics and abilities SERE wants in their members and using that work ethic from football and worked hard for months to prepare for that pipeline physically after my football knee injury having my ACL replaced. After months working and dedicating myself to the cause I passed the military testing with scores that got me into my all jobs in the Air Force and I passed my (PAST) test, physical ability stamina test qualifying me for SERE. Unfortunately, this also fell through because of the covid pandemic and restrictions the military was enforcing. With these roadblocks blocking every desire I had, I still wasn’t giving up. I always had a desire in service and helping someone, I found my desire next in my American history and constitutional rights. Something that always intrigued me was, firearms. Having the desire to go into the military I focused on that. The ability to train, learn, educate, build and configure a firearm, rather it was a pistol or rifle platform. I started striving to learn more about firearms and survival techniques. I found myself seeking out online sources, family members and education on the topic and laws of caring and using a firearm. I had been shooting firearms since I was 15 years old but now, I started to understand the history and importance of a firearm and then started seriously training and developing my knowledge, protectiveness and survival skills since I was 17 and continued them until now. Opening this business, I am continuing my education for those who were like me with interested but not fully understanding it all.

About Josh McOmber (Co-Owner).

Growing up I had the opportunity to have parents who served in the United States Air Force and medical field; being examples to me and expressing service for others. Getting older after college athletics I found myself seeking for those connections with service. I was able to embody that service by working in law enforcement in southern Oregon. I continued my oath to serving in the United States Air Force. I was able to take the officer safety knowledge from the streets with law enforcement and combined that with the military tactical training; rather that was base security, military law enforcement or combat deployment training. In my years I was able to work within security forces, and other security forces members who also had time in service with city, county and state law enforcement agencies. Combined we all got to work within units from other states where I grasped new knowledge and applied new skill sets. I was able to work with security forces and special operations units within Oregon, Washington, Idaho and Georgia. I had the ability in the air national guard to work as a rapid response team member for the state to assist city, county, state and federal law enforcement with humanitarian missions such as the civil unrest riots in Portland Oregon and the capital building in Salem. Ending my military carrier, I now have turned my attention to my community and fellow neighbors. With the crime and the lawless on the rise and dangerous situations seeming to be closer and closer to reaching our doorsteps, my knowledge I have, I feel needs to be shared within my community. If I could plug a USB flash drive into my brain and download the knowledge I have obtained and then transfer that to your brain, that is my ultimate goal.
I was blessed to be given the opportunity to work within the units and department I have had, with now teaching individuals who are seeking to learn, as I once did. My goal is to turn your “unknown” or uncomfortable nature of a firearm in self-protection into a natural way of your everyday life and understanding how to be efficient and effective in the defense of yourself.
