DPSST Additional Firearm Add-on Qualification

Armed security professionals certified through the state of Oregon DPSST are now required under House Bill 2527 to complete a firearms qualification training every year for each firearm make, model, and caliber that the armed private security professional will possess or have access to while performing private security services.
All security entities are required to maintain employee proof of training of each weapon platform an employee uses or has access to while performing private security services.

MSD Defensive Pistol with Mantis Strategic Defense

Defensive Handgun Course: 400 rounds required. IWB or covered holsters only—no battle belts as it defeats the purpose of this course. This course is designed to build real-world concealed carry skills with a strong emphasis on clearing garments efficiently under high stress and dynamic movement. Students will work from concealment, refine draw stroke mechanics, and engage targets while moving, thinking, and problem-solving. Train for realistic defensive scenarios, not static range habits.

Basic Rifle Fundamentals

Basic Rifle Fundamentals: This beginner-level firearms course teaches safe, confident shooting from the ground up. Ideal for students who are picking up a rifle for the first time, the class covers fundamentals including safety rules, proper stance, grip, sight alignment, trigger control, loading/unloading, basic malfunction clearing, and range etiquette. Instruction is hands-on and paced for new shooters with experienced, veteran-led guidance.
Minimum ammo: 350 rounds
Instructor: Michael Rexius — veteran instructor with extensive experience training new shooters and security professionals.

This 4-hour refresher course is designed for currently certified unarmed security officers who need to renew their DPSST certification. All required training documents are provided and submitted directly to the Oregon DPSST by the instructor, ensuring a smooth and hassle-free renewal process.
